Simon Halliday

I am taking part in the 2024 MS Brissie to the Bay to join the fight against multiple sclerosis.

Why I'm Participating

MS Society competes with many worthy causes, my purpose for doing this goes back to 2008, the year my brother Stephen was diagnosed with secondary progressive MS at 28 years old. I've seen first-hand the huge physical/mental challenges individual sufferers and their families go through so let’s give them a hand.

Ste lives in a bungalow in Sedgefield, Co Durham, Northeast of England, I speak with Ste mainly over the phone with distance limiting face to face contact however we caught up at Christmas in the UK and as always despite the physical challenges of living with MS, he never complains (much) and his constant positive attitude and humour just never weavers, Ste is a true inspiration to our family, we are incredibly proud of him!.

About the ride:

I’ve signed up for the 100km option, however, I’m going to do a deal!!! If I can exceed the fundraising target of $2,500, I will take on the big one and go to the 130km ride instead 😊, how does that sound?!?!?

Both rides are a smashfests, but the 130km means tangling with the A-graders and professionals! If we raise the funds, I’ll switch, and no promises but I’ll aim to hold on to the lead group which will likely mean averaging ~38-40kmph!

From the Charity - Did you know:

•  On average, more than 10 Australians are diagnosed with MS every week.

•  The average age of diagnosis is 30 years of age.

•  Three out of four Australians with MS are women.

•   It strikes young people in the prime and there is no known cause or cure.

The riders fund the ride costs, your support goes directly to fund essential services for almost 4,000 Queenslanders living with MS. These services include our NeuroAssist information line, specialist nursing services, wellness programs, and financial support. Your support will also power research into better treatments, and with your support, our hope is that one day there will be a cure for MS.
