This event uses public roads that are open to general traffic throughout the ride and therefore all entrants must abide by the road rules and obey police directions.
- It is the rider's responsibility to follow the sign posted route.
- Your bike must be mechanically sound with both front and rear brakes in working order.
- Riders must only pass to the right of another rider and call out 'passing' when doing so.
- Riders should always look behind before pulling out to pass another rider.
- Riders must listen to and follow the marshals' instructions.
Ride within the law
The following road rules apply to the Enerflex MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride. We would rather you donate the cost of the fine (over $40 for non compliance) to the MS Society of Queensland than to the government.
Police will be on the road and will fine those who:
- Disobey traffic lights at intersections and do not stop at pedestrian crossings;
- Fail to keep to the left of the carriageway;
- Ride more than two abreast;
- Ride dangerously;
- Ride negligently; and
- Do not wear a helmet.
Marshals will disqualify riders who are seen breaking the law. This will mean you are banned from future Enerflex MS Brissie to the Bay bike rides, so please follow these rules to ensure an enjoyable day for all.
Repair Service
Staff will be providing mechanical repair services at home base and along the course. You will have to pay for any parts used in the repair, but labour is free of charge. If you break down, turn your bike upside down and wait for either a repair van or a marshal who will transport your bike to the nearest base.
If you are injured
St Johns Ambulance will be on site to assist you should anything happen throughout the event. This service will be available at both the start and midway points of both the 25km and 50km rides. Should you require an ambulance, please note that you will be charged for the transportation.
In the case of an emergency, please call 000.
Safety
The Enerflex MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride course is held on public roads that may have high traffic demands or present difficult conditions such as steep descents. It is therefore important that participants exercise caution at all times and ride in a protective manner, constantly scanning the environment to be aware of what is happening around them.
